Laser Hair Removal
How does it work? Intense Pulsed Light produces wavelengths of highly concentrated light which is selectively absorbed by the melanin found in hair. The melanin in the hair absorbs the light, and the heat that is produced will cause thermal destruction of the follicle without damaging the surrounding tissue.
Who can benefit from Intense Pulsed Light Therapy? The treatment is suitable for anyone who has unwanted dark hair growth. Even people with darker skin types can be treated. The large spot size of the handpiece enables large and small areas to be treated in a safe, fast, gentle and effective way.
How many treatments are required? Intense Pulsed Light treats hairs which are in growth (anagen) phase. At any one time a percentage of hair follicles will be in the resting stage (telogen). These hairs will need to be treated at the next visit when they have progressed from telogen to anagen in the hair growth cycle. Eight to ten sessions may be needed depending on the individuals' hair growth. The best results will be achieved if the treatment plan is adhered and appointments attended at the correct intervals.
