You should exfoliate well the day before your tan in order to remove any dead skin cells (this will also help prolong your tan). Shaving or waxing should also be done before the day of your tan. Do not wear deodorants, make up or any other preparation on your skin on tanning day as these can act as a barrier to the tanning solution.
Your body constantly 'sloughs off' dead skin cells. This is why natural sun tans fade over a few days. Spray tanning only affects the outer skin layer, so again, as your skin cells are naturally shed, the spray tan will fade. Your tan should last 5-10 days, typically 7 days, but longer if you look after your skin by moisturising every day. However, we cannot offer a guarantee as everyone is different.
Most people are suitable to have a spray tan. We suggest that pregnant women in the first trimester, those with severe asthma or with very sensitive skin refrain from spray tanning. However, if you are unsure, please contact us or your GP.
Just follow these simple rules...
Dark circles are famously annoying. They can be hereditary, from lack of sleep or because your dehydrated as a result of not drinking enough water. However, you have 3 basic options for helping to conceal them or to reduce their appearance.
1) An Eye cream such as the Dermalogica Total Eye Care advanced with Alpha Hydroxy acid assists in reducing the appearance of dark circles and fine lines.
2) Test out our great Eye Primer Spotlight by Bodyography! This revolutionary age defying under eye brightener tightens and tones the delicate skin under the eyes for a more youthful appearance. This formula is infused with light-reflecting pigments to blend dark circles and fine lines. It features a botanical blend of nutra-peptides to deliver effective anti-ageing results.
3) Why not have a Sothys Intensive Eye Contour treatment. Designed specifically to refresh, decongest, protect and combat the ageing of the eye contour. This intensive salon treatment incorporates specific massage movements with the latest in active ingredients to assist in the alleviation of visible signs of ageing, dark circles, puffiness and crêpey dehydration fine lines around the eye area.
You most likely need an eye cream. The eye area is so delicate that some ingredients in moisturisers are too harsh and can also be very thick in consistency which is too heavy to penetrate through the delicate skin around the eyes. Plus, eye creams typically contain specialized ingredients to address eye-related concerns, such as darkness, puffiness, fine lines and wrinkles.
Women should exfoliate using a scrub at least once or twice a week. Exfoliating removes dead skin and dirt, keeping your skin cleaner and healthier. As a general rule the softer an exfoliant is the more often you can use it. Some exfoliating scrubs are so gentle that they are designed to be used every day and the more coarser scrubs which are grainy in consistency should be used no more than twice a week.
Those little rough red or white bumps that annoyingly plaque the backs of arms and sometimes the thighs are called "Keratosis Pilaris." They're not acne, it's actually a genetic follicular skin condition that's also known as "chicken skin" because of it's resemblance to, well, chicken skin.
Moisturise daily with Dermalogica’s Body Hydrating Cream that contains lactic acid. This Non-greasy emulsion used twice daily, helps dissolve the thickened skin, revealing nice soft, smooth skin. Camellia Oleifera (Green Tea) also helps to soothe irritation.
Avoid hot showers and abrasive scrubs. Scrubbing the area only exacerbates the problem.
As we age, our hands may develop liver spots (or "age spots"), which are blemishes typically caused by overexposure to damaging UV rays from the sun.
Liver spots can be removed by Intense Pulse Laser Light. To prevent liver spots, use hand creams with SPF protection. Your hands will give away your age as you get older, even if your face is as lineless as that of a 20-year-old's.
These are just a few of the questions that some of our clients ask us.
Laser hair removal and electrolysis are the only options for permanent hair removal on the chin and upper lip, but there are pros and cons to both.
Laser Hair Removal (what is laser hair removal)
Lasers work best on dark hair and light skin because the laser targets melanin which is found in dark hair. If you have dark skin, beware also, because the laser will target the melanin in your skin as well, this can cause pigmentation problems.
Are results guaranteed?
Results, unfortunately, are never guaranteed with laser hair removal. You can expect an 80% reduction in hair growth, but some people see more, some less. I have had great success with lasers, while a friend of mine turned to electrolysis because all his back hair grew back after his laser treatments.
Electrolysis
Electrolysis is a more guaranteed form of hair removal and works on dark AND light hair.
How it works
The licensed Electrologist (make sure yours is licensed) inserts a sterile needle into every hair follicle. A low-level electrical current kills the follicle. Because electrolysis focuses on one hair at a time, it can be a tedious process, which makes it ideal for small areas like the brows, upper lip and chin.
